Challenge

Weather has great influence on athletes and outdoor equipments during the games. As the main stadium of the Beijing Olympic Games, the Bird's Nest chooses Helicomm's ZigBee/GPRS wireless long distance environmental sensing system. This innovative platform collects real-time environmental data, gives management team accurate weather information in the game field and provides wind power, wind direction and temperature data for the athletes.

Solution

The system consists of environmental sensors, MA8/GPRS terminals and management center. Real-time sensor data will be sent to MA8/GPRS terminals by highly reliable RS232 serial data streams. MA8 terminals then send the data to remote wireless management center through GPRS and Internet. The management center will have real-time weather data and is able to provide accurate weather forecast.
