Challenge

Traditional electric meter reading in China villages is checked and reported by hand. Customers were enduring the inaccuracies of estimated billing. To solve this problem, the State of council enables funding to support municipal utility conservation programs, which provides the money for automated electrical meters. Helicomm's ZigBee-based AMR wireless network for monitoring electricity usage is significantly reducing the costs caused by the inaccuracies of manual meter reading and improving overall customer satisfaction.

 

Solution

The system was deployed by using ZigBee wireless module integrated electric meters, IP-Link 2220 readers and MA8 GPRS terminals. The integrated meter collects and forwards the data wirelessly through wireless mesh network to MA8 data collection terminal. The terminal sends the data to the central office via GPRS/Internet. The AMR system provides the central office with real-time status on power usage for each customer, greatly increases the efficiency.
