Challenge

The amount of appliances and devices residing in home environment is remarkable and increases all the time. There is the great market need for a system to provide a new type of co-operation, a more natural form of interaction between human and technology. The concept of smart home starts to catch more and more attention. Customers want their home appliance, electronic devices, and multimedia servers can talk to each other and the outside world via a broadband connection. Facing the challenges brought by constant emerging new product and technology update, Haier need to find a way to give wireless power to its products in order to enhance Haier's competitiveness in global marketplace.

Solution

Under the consideration of technology ability and product features, Haier choose Helicomm as its partner to build wireless home networking system. In February, 2004, Haier Group, with the technology and product from Helicomm, introduced the Haier Home Networking System, which was the first wireless appliance control platform in China. Different from other home network solutions, Haier and Helicomm added features and systems to provide a bundled package for the homeowner. The whole system contains Wireless Network Gateway, Wireless Network Software, and upgradeable Network Appliances and Electric Devices, all embedded with Helicomm's IP-Link Wireless Module.
