For Immediate Release-
June 9, 2009- San Diego, CA, While attention of the nation is directed to energy conservation through terms such as green energy, the smart grid, carbon credits, cap and trade..., Robertson Worldwide, enabled by Helicomm's ZigBee based IP-Link modules, demonstrated a wireless closed loop control system for lighting control at Lightfair 2009.
In today's world, most lighting control schemes provide one way on and off with limited dimming capabilities. In order to achieve optimal efficiency, two way communications is needed between devices and their controllers. In the Robertson booth, visitors saw multiple lighting technologies; LED, HID, hi and low power fluorescent; all controlled from a single remote platform, wirelessly. Not only could the lamps be turned on and off, or level adjusted based upon situational awareness, but performance characteristics such as power consumption could be monitored on a lamp by lamp basis.
Robertson intelligent ballasts equipped with the Helicomm modules provide municipalities or building managers, cost effective, rapidly deployed real time monitor and control capability for their lighting systems today. As utilities implement the latest demand response systems across the smart grid, users of the Robertson/Helicomm solution will be prepared to integrate their systems seamlessly.
President Sandy Bryant of Robertson stated, "The Helicomm solution provided us with the right combination of high performance modules and an easy to use Software Development Kit." Robertson's engineers remarked on the seamless transition from emulation to actual module programming and the support provided by Helicomm.
Bryant went on to say, "The Robertson/Helicomm Technology demonstration at Light Fair was well received by the thousands of visitors, including the maintenance staff at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City, who inquired on how to use the monitoring and control technology on their lighting systems."
"The Robertson display was a look at how lighting will be controlled in the future." Commented Helicomm's Director of sales Ken Hill. "It was a pleasure working with such a forward looking company."
